Overview
The William’s Peak hike is located in Northwest Mariposa County near the town of Bear Valley. The hike, a 2.6-mile out and back trail with 721 feet of elevation gain, features views of California’s Central Valley, Lakes McClure and McSwain and on a clear day, El Capitan and Half Dome in Yosemite National Park.
This trail is accessed from Hunter’s Valley Access Road off of Bear Valley Road in Mariposa County. The road to the trailhead is unpaved and high clearance vehicles are recommended. This hike is best done in Winter or Spring when temperatures are still low. In summer, this trail offers no shade and is at low elevation, so temperatures can be in the 90’s to 100’s. This is a dog-friendly hike.
