Yosemite's Waterfalls

Winter Scene

If you're planning a visit to Yosemite, think "layers."

While the park's weather can be quite mild with daytime temperatures in the high 80s during summer, the region is known for its sudden unexpected thunderstorms and rapidly dropping temperatures.

For maximum comfort, layered clothing is recommended, with at least a sweater and waterproof jacket to offset an evening chill or unexpected shower. A pair of comfortable hiking boots or athletic shows are a must for those who fine it hard to resist to wander off the beaten path.

In winter, temperatures can hover in the high 40s to the mid 20s. The record low is -6º F. If you're a winter adventurer, plan accordingly for these kinds of changes in temperature.
