Transportation to Yosemite by train is available from both northern and southern California. The Northern California AMTRAK train, originating in Emeryville, carries passengers to Merced daily. Connection to Yosemite is made via the VIA/Gray Line bus (see “Bus” for additional information). For the return to Emeryville, an AMTRAK train departs Merced every afternoon.

There are also Southern California trains that run from both Los Angeles and San Diego on AMTRAK. The trip itself requires bus inter-connects from Los Angeles to Bakersfield and from Merced to Yosemite. Return travelers can catch a VIA/Gray Line bus to Merced for the AMTRAK trip to Bakersfield and connections to Las Vegas and Southern California.
