Visitor Center

The Yosemite Valley Visitor Center and Bookstore is the ideal place to start your visit to Yosemite! Knowledgeable and friendly volunteers at the Visitor Center are always willing to help you find the perfect hotel, daily road conditions, or general knowledge about Yosemite National Park.

The Visitor Center offers an impressive orientation film program, interesting exhibits, information services, and a complete bookstore.

Until 1971, the Visitor Center was accessible by car. Given the tremendous congestion that was occurring in the Yosemite Village area, a decision was made to close the parking area and develop a pedestrian mall. You can still get to the Visitor Center via shuttle bus, bicycle, or on foot!

For more information about the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center and Bookstore, call 209-379-2646.

If  you are entering the Park via the Hwy 140 Gateway, be sure to stop at the Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau in the historic town of Mariposa. The center offers maps and last-minute trip information, especially handy when the weather is volatile, or the Festival season is in full swing!  Reach them at:  1-866-HALF DOME  or visit  http://www.yosemiteexperience.com
